Via ferrata (Italian for "railway") is a way of moving along walls and various more or less vertical obstacles, using equipment similar to that used in rock climbing. The difference is that the walls are equipped with rungs, bridges and ladders, and a lifeline is placed along the entire length of the wall for self-belay. Originally created in Austria in the 19th century, it was in Italy during the 1st World War that it gained its nobility. Today, as a means of sport tourism, it is an excellent complement to rock climbing, offering the same thrill of heights and breathtaking views, but without the same degree of technical commitment.

Located at the bottom of the Rouanne valley, the Ancelle via ferrata offers 3 different and complementary routes. Depending on your level and desire for challenge, you'll be able to choose between the yellow, blue or red routes, with links between them. The yellow route is ideal for children and offers a great first approach to vertical climbing without scaring you. The blue and red routes, although relatively short, offer an aerial via and a particularly pleasant feel for the rock. Overlooking the Lautaret torrent, with a unique 360-degree view of the valley and the Ecrins National Park, the atmosphere alone is enough to justify coming and discovering it. What's more, as it faces west, the sun will be with you for most of the day, making it perfect for a cool morning activity.

We will provide you with all the safety equipment you need (harness, lanyards, helmet) and our qualified guides will be on hand to help you progress smoothly, adapting the difficulty to your level so that fun remains the central element of your outing.
